A Little Variety

Mostly, this blog has been kind of like a journal or diary, when I just put entries in whenever about what's going on in my life. And that's cool and everything, and the main reason I got a blog. Recently, I've been using the blog as a safe haven for homework, which is cool too, because I'm getting some extra use out of it for different purposes. Though now I'm going to take this blog in a completely different direction, while keeping the old things as well, to try to get as much use out of it as possible. Basically, last weekend I watched a movie for the first time in like, forever. So I though, why not rate, and somewhat review the movie on here? And I actually watched three movies last weekend, which was quite an accomplishment. Haha, but yeah, anyways, here it goes... the first ever movie reviews on the blog...

"Little Man"
3 out of 5 stars
I though this was pretty well put together. The little baby/man looked insanely small, and it led to even think that they have have used camera trickery, but I would doubt it. It was funny in some parts, mainly with the baby and his dumb friend. The story line was kind of weak, and the ending was really lame, but the well executed humor made up for it somewhat. I would say that if you're into comedy, then go ahead and rent it, but it's not really something to watch more than once. But leave this as a backup plan for movie night.

"Leatherheads"
1.5 out of 5 stars
You would think that I would really like this movie with it being about the NFL and having two of my favorite actors in John Krasinski (better known as Jim Halpert) and George Clooney. However, this was an insanely boring and stupid movie with absolutely no point. I have to tell you, "Napoleon Dynamyte" was more exciting. Every movie automatically starts off with one star in my grading scale (so you will never see a zero or .5) and the only thing that got this the extra .5 was the fact that it had those two actors. If they had any other people playing those two roles in this movie, it would have honestly been a one star. It was horrible. Don't bother.

"Righteous Kill"
4 out of 5 stars
Almost got a 4.5, but I think that they only reason I liked it so much was because I hadn't seen a good movie in a long time. I ended up getting this one because of all the commercials about how Al Pachino and Robert De Niro finally come together in a cop film. To be honestly, I've never seen a Pachino movie, and the only time I've seen De Niro was when he was in "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers". There are some twists in this that kept me interested through the whole thing, and the ending is pretty insane and unexpected. This was definitely the best out of the three, and something I will watch again in the future as well as recommend to others. Including you. Try this one.

HOCKEY PLAYERS

This is one of those awesome quotes that I found that I just love. I made a few changes and grammatical changes, but yeah, I love things. Just reading it gets me pumped up and what to go out on the ice and dangle some kids. Hockey for life. Livonia Blackhawks (5-0-1).

"HOCKEY PLAYERS: The cockiest, dirtiest, best looking, most irresponsible group of athletes in the world. We'll do anything and come back to tell his teammates about it. Live the dream until they are 35 then realize they never made it. Ladies love us, guys want to be us; we are the soul of the universe. You lace up the skates, put on the gloves, strap on the helmet, and walk on to the ice and suddenly nothing else matters. It doesn't matter that you failed a test, your girl is being a bitch, or that you got a ticket on the way to the rink...your world is absolutely perfect for the next couple hours. Here's to faceoffs, goals, assists, overtime, livin' on the road, cold rinks, early mornings, breakaways, goin' top shelf, countless hours of practice, bag skates, thousands of dollars, dangling d-men, big hits, new skates, coaches, adding the letter "y" to the end of everyone's last name, pick up, fights, let downs, miracles and most of all - the game; hockey. Why? Why do we skate back and forth night after night? Skating so hard your heart beat rings in your head, while your lungs are gasping for air. Late nights, early mornings, Friday nights, Saturday evenings, broken bones, torn muscles and deep bruises. We skate through it all. Because we live off our adrenaline, because the game frees your spirit, because the party in the locker room is the shit, because you're invincible once you step on the ice, because one shot can make you smile all night, because it gives you something to look forward to during the day; sniping the twine, the rattling of the boards, the feel of the puck, and skates carving into the ice is a rhythm to live by, because it's possible to skate fast enough to leave all your worries behind. Sweat is the cologne of our accomplishment. Why? Why would someone push themselves so hard? It's not for the money, it's not for the girls, and it's not for the fame. We do it because we love it. Hockey."

Great Depress

The Great Depression was caused due to the problem of the gold backing system failing to remain strong enough to work.

1. Bernanke, Ben. "Money, Gold, and the Great Depression" - Speech given March 2, 2004; transcript at <http://www.federalreserve.gov/boarddocs/speeches/2004/200403022/default.htm>

This speech was given in 2004 and sums up some good points about the good about the Great Depression. Sums up the cause and reasons that led up to and caused the Great Depression, mainly refering to the gold backing system as the main cause.

2. Bernanke, Ben. Essays on the Great Depression (Princeton University Press, 2000) Chapter One available online - "The Macroeconomics of the Great Depression" at <http://press.princeton.edu/chapters/s6817.html>

Tells why gold losing value and quantity was the reason for the Great Depression. Shows that the gold backing system losing strength was the reason behind the sudden collapse of the economy.

3. Mann, Andy. The Great Depression - Why It Spread Worldwide <http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Great-Depression---Why-It-Spread-World-Wide&id=263094>

Gives a simple, short and sweet summary of the gold backing system, and why it failed and contributed to the economic collapse of the 1930s.

Reboot #2

Just trying to get this computer back up and running, so I'm posting a link here that will hopefully ease the pain of the huge graphics the we want to make a little smaller. I honestly hate doing this. I lost everything, AGAIN. It sucks, and I really have no idea what cause it this time. It was just kinda random. I'm really thinking about investing in my own laptop though. Anyways, here's the link.... that I THINK will work. I might be back for more later...

Math Projecttt

https://bb3.catholiccentral.net/ClassDocuments/4879/82702/Project_1_AlgII.pdf

1. Ask your parent or guardian for a recent electric power bill.
2. (10 points) Write a piecewise linear equation that represents your monthly electric energy cost
as a function of Kilowatt Hour (KWH) of electricity used. Be sure to include all taxes, fees,
and surcharges.
3. (10 points) Graph this piecewise linear function and mark your current energy usage.
4. (10 points) Identify the sources of at least 50% of your electric power usage and create a pie
chart showing the percentage usage by major function (heating/cooling, refrigeration, cooking,
lighting, hot water, etc.).
5. (10 points) Write a paragraph describing what you learned and what steps you would take if
you wanted or needed to reduce your electric cost by 10% per month.
6. (10 points) Summarize your work in a one-page typewritten report like the one shown on the
following page (your graphs, charts, and tables may be hand-drawn if you prefer).
Note: Do not exceed one side of one page of paper. Extra credit points given for excellent work.
