Do an Ese'

Yeah, just at school right now waiting for Nick. Thought I'd get a jumpstart on my English Essay...

Brahman is defined as "the unlying reality or truth of the universe; everything we see, hear, taste, smell, and feel." The understanding of Brahman is very difficult to achieve, and it takes a long time to fully understand. The concept of Brahman was developed in ancient India, and it was their goal in life to understand Brahman. However, in order for them to understand Brahman, they had to discover what Brahman was not.

There is a song called "Within You, Without You" written by George Harrison and The Beatles back in 1967 that seems to heavily relate to Brahman. One quote from this song is "Try to realise it's all within yourself no-one else." This relates to Brahman because you must discover Brahman for yourself to truly be one with Brahman. If someone tells you their understanding of Brahman, than that is their opinion, so you are still not fully understanding Brahman.

Brahman also teaches to go beyond material things, and find things that are more meaningful and important. Once again, the song "Within You, Without You" has a quote that

I Got Good English...

Just another English post. I can type faster on here, so I figured I'd do it on here once again. Plus, I think Drake's on the computer, so there's that. Anyways, here it goes...

1. India was isolated from other parts of the world because of the mountains and ocean on each side of them, so they thought they were the first to invent many of their things, and were the center of the universe. Some of their achievements inlcuded the decimal point as well as the concept of zero.

2. Hinduism helped shape Indian literature because of the concern of religous values in Hindu life. Language was sacred to them because it was like their religon, and it was the most important thing in their lives. To them, to study something was to memorize it. They memorized many different sorts of prayers, and if they said it wrong, then the prayer would not work.

And that's it. I have the computer now to do #3-10. Peace y'all.

English Q's

Yeah, this is just my homework I typed up, and I'm gonna copy and paste later. Not much of anything to read really, but I need to do it on here because Drake was on the computer. That is all.

1. Some similarities that existed between Persian and Arabic literature included the use of poetry. These two groups also used similar storylines like good against evil or sometimes young against old. Some difference that existed between these two groups included that fact that the Persians were historical writers, while the Arabics were religous and tribal.

2. Suhrab begins fighting because he wants to prove to his dad his manlihood, as well as be approved by the father. He also see it as his only way to meet his dad and truely be accpeted by him.

3. Rustam's use of deception shows the Persian belief that with age comes wisdom, and that wisdom is more important and useful than Suhrab's youth and skill.

4. Fate is referenced so often because the Persians had a strong belief in fate, and sometimes thought that they lived a completely predestined life, right from birth. This belief made fate rule their lives. Suhrab mentioned fate after he had been stabbed because he needed to blame the loss to his father on something.

5. Yes, Khayyam's message in verse XIII is consistent with Islamic belief because it said that we choose if we are going to have an eternal existence.

6. In verse XLVII Khayyam basically says that when we die, the world doesn't really notice, and it goes on living no matter what. He describes this idea as a pebble being thrown into the sea.

7. In verse LXXI Khayyam provides the insight that time goes by very quickly, and once the time has passed, you can't go back to that time ever again. He also says you can't spend your time living in the past and grieving in the past, and you must live in the present.

8. Yes, the fisherman would have been much happier if he had found a fish instead of a bottle because the fish would have given him money or something to eat, but the jinnee wants to kill him.

9. The advice is ironic because if King Yunan would have listened to his advice, then he would have survived.

10. The theme of, if you show mercy to others then it will come back to you, connects these three stories. Also, in each story there is multiple interlocking narrators that lock the story together.

Owen's Cute Names

Alrightyyy, so here's a list of names that Drake and I have come up with over the last few years to annoy the hell out of Owen and his entire lifestyle. Mainly what we do is find the cutest name out of all Owen's friends/classmates/teammates, and we just always say that name just to annoy him. It's complicated but funny as hell. Anyways, the reason for this blog entry is to record all the names we have used over the years so far.

Pre-School Year 2: Knutepatrick
This kid was just mainly chosen randomly when we heard his name. We had the whole soft cheeks thing going, and Drake was playing with Owen and K-Pat touching their cheeks and what not, and he kept asking Owen if he wanted to go spend the night at K-Pat's house. And thus, the Owen Name Game was born.

Kindergarden: Samuel Lanfeld (Sam L.)
This cute long haired blondie was chosen not only because of his name, but because of his looks as well. He was Owen's classmate at Cass.

1st Grade: Hugh Larkin (Hugh)
Owen's initiation hockey teammate whose dad was a firefighting coach. We would just always pipe in a high-pitched "Hugh."

2nd Grade: Sophia Tjolis
This was Owen's classmate as Cass, whose brother was on Owen's hockey team, the Kings. Oh, and her dad was pretty much the coolest guy ever.

3rd Grade: Griffin Neary
We actually didn't know this kid at all, but we thought the name was cute. And he was like 2 feet tall, so he was pretty cute too.

4th grade: ?
He's currently 3 days into 4th grade, and 2 practices into hockey, so we still really have no idea on what to chose for this year. But believe us, we'll have one. Fo sho.
